I’ve been living with kidney disease since 2021. It all started with a hypertensive emergency where I was losing sight in my right eye, and my blood pressure was dangerously high. After a series of tests, I learned that my blood pressure had caused my kidney disease. I was on medication and thought I was doing okay, but over time, I started to feel more and more tired. It wasn’t until a visit to my nephrologist that I learned my kidney function had dropped to just 7%. From there, everything spiraled. I ended up in the hospital for an 8-day stay and found out that a kidney transplant would be my only real chance for a better life.
It’s been incredibly hard. I have a 7-year-old son, and my condition has impacted my ability to be the active, energetic mom I used to be. We can’t run around or play like we used to. I get too tired or out of breath, and it’s not just affecting me, but also my son. My husband and my son are my everything, and they keep me going every single day, but this journey has been a tough one for all of us.
I’m on peritoneal dialysis now, and while I work full-time, I have to make sure I’m home every night at a certain time to start my treatment. My life has become a constant cycle of limitations, and it’s hard to ask for help. But a kidney transplant would change everything. It would allow me to be the mom my son needs, to live without the constant exhaustion, and to have the freedom to enjoy life again.
I’m just praying that someone will step forward and decide to save my life. If you’re interested in learning more about how you can help, please visit my page: www.giftworksuuh.com/amandac.
