Upon learning I had made it onto the transplant waitlist, I was overjoyed. Receiving a new kidney would enable me to witness my youngest daughter and grandchild growing up, support my oldest daughter in living her best life, and enjoy more quality time with my soulmate, Robert. Waiting for a deceased kidney transplant doesn’t guarantee a quick match. Many, including myself, wait 5+ years. It’s a tough journey with kidney disease, and a lot can change during this time.
