I was only 16 when I was diagnosed with end-stage renal disease. Since then, I’ve been through dialysis three separate times and two transplants that didn’t last. Right now, I’m tethered to dialysis three days a week, each session draining hours from my life and energy from my body. A living donor offers the best hope of a longer-lasting transplant—and a second chance at the life I’ve been fighting for.

Every year, about 6,000 people step up and become living kidney donors in the United States—saving the lives of people like me. I was diagnosed with end-stage renal disease at just 16 years old.
