After dedicating over 30 years of my life to serving in the military, I had big dreams for my retirement—traveling, making memories, and spending time with my children and grandchildren. Unfortunately, my life is on hold right now. I’m on dialysis three times a week, each session lasting about four hours. The exhaustion that follows means I lose an entire day after every treatment. As someone who lives alone, I manage as best I can, but dialysis limits my freedom and keeps me from visiting the people I love most. Simple things like weekend trips or family gatherings feel out of reach.
A kidney transplant would change everything. It would give me the freedom to travel, enjoy time with my family, and open the door to new possibilities. These are all opportunities I am praying for.
I am deeply grateful to everyone who has shared my story and supported my search for a living kidney donor. Special thanks to those who have stepped forward—your consideration means more than words can express.
If you’re reading this, I ask you to consider something truly life-changing: becoming a living donor or sharing my story with others. I believe in the kindness of people, and your support could bring me one step closer to regaining my freedom and health. www.giftworksuuh.com/steveb
