t’s never easy to ask for help, especially when the request is so deeply personal. Kevin has been battling kidney disease for years, facing the daily challenges of fatigue, uncertainty, and the weight of a future that depends on finding a living kidney donor. Currently, Kevin is one of over 100,000 people in the U.S. waiting for a lifesaving kidney transplant. It can take years to find a match, and while he waits, my worry is that he may only become more ill. But despite all the hurdles he’s faced, the one thing that remains unwavering is his hope for a better future. I’m hopeful, too.
Here’s something I recently learned that’s really cool: when someone donates a kidney, the remaining kidney grows to take over the full function needed for the body. It’s incredible how the body adapts to provide such a profound gift.
Kevin is one of the most kind-hearted people I know. He’s always put others before himself, even in the midst of his struggles. He’s a loving husband, father, and friend, and has a deep faith that keeps him going despite the daily challenges.
