It’s never easy to ask for help, especially when the request is so deeply personal. Kathie has been battling kidney disease for a long time, facing daily challenges like extreme fatigue, uncertainty, and the weight of a future that depends on finding a living kidney donor. Currently, Kathie is one of over 100,000 people in the U.S. waiting for a lifesaving kidney transplant. The wait can take years, and while she waits, I worry that she may only become more ill.
But despite all the hurdles Kathie has faced, her unwavering hope for a better future is what keeps her going. She’s been through so much, including the loss of both of her parents and a forced early retirement due to her health. And yet, she continues to inspire by working as an online tutor and becoming a grandmother soon. Her spirit is nothing short of amazing, and I’m hopeful, too, that a kidney donor will come forward to help Kathie live the life she deserves.
Here’s something I recently learned that’s really cool: when someone donates a kidney, the remaining kidney grows to take over the full function needed for the body. It’s incredible how the body adapts to provide such a profound gift.
As Kathie’s advocate, I’m here to help spread the word and ask anyone who can, to consider becoming a living kidney donor. Every share, every conversation, and every connection brings us closer to finding a match. Please take a moment to read Kathie’s story and help us spread the word: https://giftworksuuh.com/kathiec/
Thank you for your continued support and encouragement.
