To me, receiving a kidney from a living donor epitomizes #thankyou in the purest form. It’s a thank you to someone brave enough to help another person thrive. It’s a thank you for more time with loved ones, for future memories not yet made, and for the chance to feel healthy again.
The hardest part of my journey has been the constant uncertainty. I’ve been living with FSGS for most of my life, and while I’m incredibly thankful for the two kidney transplants I’ve had, I find myself back in need once again. The waiting game is never easy, especially knowing that the longer I wait, the worse my health will get.
Living with FSGS and kidney disease has been a long journey for me. Since I was 11, I’ve battled high blood pressure, migraines, and extreme fatigue, which eventually led to kidney failure. I’ve been through multiple transplants, and today, I find myself on home hemodialysis five days a week. The exhaustion and stress are overwhelming, and my day-to-day life has been drastically impacted. But despite everything, I remain hopeful. Why? Because there are incredible people out there willing to step forward and help.
