It’s been about seven years since I was diagnosed with Polycystic Kidney Disease, and opening up about my search for a living kidney donor has been incredibly challenging. My condition is deteriorating quickly, and I face severe health issues every day. The waitlist for a deceased donor kidney is long, with over 100,000 people waiting and potential wait times of more than five years. Unfortunately, I don’t have that much time. If you’re reading this, please help by sharing my post. Your support in spreading the word can make a huge difference. If you feel moved to consider becoming my donor, please visit my website and fill out the contact form: https://giftworksuuh.com/terrilh/.
Thank you so much for your kindness and support.

Finding out that I was on the transplant waiting list was amazing. Receiving a kidney would change my life in so many ways. It would be so wonderful to be able to do things again without getting tired, and I could plan things with confidence to do in the future rather than asking myself, “Will I be healthy or live long enough to do this?” Waiting on the transplant list for a deceased donor kidney doesn’t guarantee a swift transplant. Many patients, including myself, endure waits of five years or longer. During this prolonged period, battling kidney disease presents significant challenges. This is why I’m sharing my journey actively. By sharing my story, I aim to connect with a potential living kidney donor who might consider extending the ultimate gift — the gift of life. Your support can make a difference today — please share this post and visit my website. https://giftworksuuh.com/terrilh/

Something that I want my future kidney donor to know:
I’m struggling to find the right words to convey the depth of my gratitude for your life-saving gift. The prospect of receiving your kidney leaves me speechless with appreciation. With your donation, I’ll be blessed with renewed energy and vitality, and be able to tackle tasks without exhaustion setting in after mere minutes, or climbing stairs without feeling like I need to pause for a break. Additionally, I can start planning for the future with confidence, free from the uncertainty of my health holding me back. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart – it means more to me than words can express.

Living kidney donation can significantly improve the quality of life for recipients. Research published in the American Journal of Kidney Diseases indicates that recipients of living donor kidneys often experience better long-term outcomes, including lower rates of rejection and improved overall health compared to those who receive kidneys from deceased donors.

We asked Terril what he would want to say to his living donor, this is what he shared with us, “there are not enough words in my vocabulary to say thank you to express how much a donor’s life saving gift means to be. My donor would become family to me and I hope they would know how much gratitude is in my heart.”
