A living kidney donation means more than just a transplant to me – it represents the gift of life itself. It offers the chance to live without the constant burden of dialysis, to have a better quality of life, and to experience fewer restrictions and less anxiety. The idea of receiving a living donor transplant epitomizes #life because it gives me the opportunity to continue living the life I love, enjoying time with my family, and fulfilling my dreams for the future.

This couldn’t be further from the truth. Living kidney donation is typically very successful. Kidneys from living donors typically last longer and start working faster than those from deceased donors. On average, a kidney from a living donor can function for 15–20 years—or even longer.

The wait for a kidney transplant feels endless, and for me, it’s filled with a constant sense of fear and uncertainty. I’ve been on peritoneal dialysis for over a year now, and while I’m in generally good health, my kidney function has declined significantly, leaving me feeling like time is slipping away. The idea of waiting years for a donor I have no control over is overwhelming.

Your kindness could save my life. I’ve been living with kidney failure for the past few years. I’ve been on peritoneal dialysis for over a year now, but a kidney transplant is my best chance for a healthy future. Waiting for a transplant is incredibly difficult. Every day, there are so many unknowns, and it feels like there’s so much beyond my control. My family and I are doing everything we can to stay positive, but the uncertainty is hard to bear.

The toll kidney disease takes on my body is exhausting, and I’ve often wondered if life could ever be the same again. Knowing that someone who donates a kidney can continue to live a healthy life afterward is incredibly encouraging. It reassures me that the decision to donate doesn’t have to come at the cost of your own health. In fact, most people return to their normal activities, feeling just as healthy as before.

I’m currently searching for a living donor who can offer me a second chance at life. It’s a huge request, but what I’ve come to understand is that generosity doesn’t always need to be loud—it can be quiet and impactful in ways we might not even realize.
