The wait for a kidney transplant is something I never expected to be facing. Since November 2022, when I was first diagnosed with kidney failure, my life has been turned upside down. I’ve been on dialysis for nearly two years now, and I’m told it could take over five years to get a transplant. Every day is a challenge—physically, mentally, and emotionally. It’s hard to accept that my health is out of my hands and that I’m waiting for someone else’s decision to improve my future.
But despite the uncertainty, there’s a glimmer of hope. The idea of finding a living kidney donor keeps me going. Unlike the long wait for a deceased donor, a living donor means a better chance at a quicker recovery and a brighter future. It’s not just about receiving a kidney—it’s about regaining my life. A living donor can give me the opportunity to be there for my family, to help my wife who has her own health struggles, and to get back to work without the constant fatigue and limitations.
I don’t want to live in fear anymore. I just want to feel normal again—enjoy life with my kids and grandkids, and not be held back by dialysis. I’m putting my trust in the kindness of others, and I hope someone will step forward to give me the chance to live.
