The Resilience to Keep Fighting

Living with kidney disease has tested my resilience in ways I never imagined. From the moment I was diagnosed at age 11, I’ve fought not just with my body, but with the emotional and mental toll that comes with it. Kidney disease isn’t just about feeling physically unwell. It impacts every part of your life—your work, your relationships, your sense of self. I’ve missed out on so many things: quality time with family, building a career, and doing the things I love. Dialysis takes up 25-30 hours of my week, leaving me exhausted and unable to keep up with daily responsibilities. I’ve had to learn to adjust, but it’s hard not to feel like I’m falling behind. https://giftworksuuh.com/ericp/

What keeps me going are the people who matter most to me. My mother has been my rock, always there when I need her, even from far away. My best friends, like Alec and Tanner, have been by my side through thick and thin, encouraging me to stay strong. They remind me why I keep fighting and help me stay focused on the hope that a living donor will step forward.

I’m still holding on to hope that someone will donate a kidney to me. A living kidney donor could help me get off dialysis and live a healthier, more active life. Kidneys from living donors last longer and offer a quicker recovery. There are so many inspiring stories of living donors who not only save lives but also give hope. They give a gift beyond words.

I still need a donor, and if you or someone you know is considering donation, please complete the form on my GiftWorks website. A Living Donor Navigator will contact you to provide guidance and answer any questions. It’s 100% confidential. https://giftworksuuh.com/ericp/
