Thi Needs a Living Kidney Donor
“I want my living kidney donor to know that I am very thankful for them. They would be giving me the chance at a healthy life and the opportunity to visit Vietnam and see my family again.“
Thi’s Story
In 2017, Thi, a devoted wife and mother living in Vietnam, received devastating news from her doctor: she was diagnosed with kidney disease and would require dialysis. Despite the challenges, Thi remained resilient for her family. When Thi and her family relocated to the United States, she hoped for better medical prospects. However, after consulting her doctor, the reality remained unchanged – her kidney function had not improved significantly. Her nephrologist emphasized the urgency of a kidney transplant to ensure Thi’s well-being.
We Need to Find a Living Donor
Now, Thi finds herself in a predicament, seeking a living kidney donor to extend her life. As a cherished wife and mother, Thi’s family relies on her unwavering love and support. The prospect of a long wait for a deceased donor kidney, estimated between 3-5 years or even longer, is daunting. However, Thi remains hopeful, knowing that finding a living donor could expedite her transplant process and ultimately save her life.
Donor Eligibility Requirements
Thi is extremely lucky to have secured highly qualified medical help and support from the team at the University of Utah Health (UUH). She wants any interested persons to know that they will be in exceptional hands should they decide to step forward. UUH has shared the following as a pre-qualification list for donation:
Must be between the age of 18-69 years old.
Must be healthy and free of major health problems such as high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, obesity (BMI of 37 or less).
Must be mentally and emotionally healthy.
