Living with kidney disease has been a long journey. I was first diagnosed back in 1986, and my kidneys held on for decades. But in 2022, I had to start dialysis. It keeps me alive, but dialysis is draining — it’s like a full-time job you can’t ever take a break from. It leaves me exhausted and makes life feel anything but free.
My wife, Tracey, and I have built a beautiful life together. We raised four kids and now have the joy of 11 amazing grandkids, ages 9 to 23. Being with them brings me so much happiness, but kidney disease limits the time and energy I have to share with them.
Service has always been a part of who I am. I enlisted in the military at 17 and proudly served our country for nine years. Now, my greatest hope is for the freedom to enjoy retirement — traveling, boating, camping, and making new memories with the people I love.
A living kidney donor would make all the difference. It would mean a healthier transplant, a faster recovery, and more precious time with my family. If you’ve ever thought about helping someone in need, please consider stepping forward — or even just sharing my story.
If you’re interested in learning more, it starts with a simple contact form on my website. A Living Donor Navigator — someone who has donated a kidney before — will reach out to guide you and answer any questions.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. Your kindness could help give me the chance to truly live again. https://giftworksuuh.com/michaelm/
