Holding on to Hope Through Kidney Disease

Living with kidney disease has meant learning resilience in ways I never imagined. It’s not only the physical challenges—the endless treatments, the fatigue—it’s also the things I’ve had to miss. Moments with family, opportunities at work, and experiences that most people can take for granted have all been affected. There are days when the weight of it all feels overwhelming, but I remind myself that I’m still here, still fighting.

What has carried me through is the love and support of the people who matter most to me. My family and close friends have been my strength when my own feels stretched thin. They remind me why it’s worth pushing forward, even when the path is hard.

I hold onto hope that a living kidney donor will step forward to save my life. Living donation is an extraordinary act—donors often recover quickly and can continue living healthy lives with just one kidney. More than that, they give something priceless: the chance for someone else to keep living. I’ve read so many inspiring stories of donors who not only saved a life, but gave hope to entire families. It’s a gift beyond words.

I am still waiting for my chance at that gift. If you or someone you know has ever considered living donation, please know that the process is confidential and supportive every step of the way. You can learn more and take the first step by filling out the form on my GiftWorks website (https://giftworksuuh.com/xinfanh/). An experienced GiftWorks living donor navigator will be there to guide you, answer questions, and walk alongside you through the process.

My journey has been long, but I believe the next chapter could be one of renewed life—with help from someone willing to give this incredible gift.
